YOUR TWO NIGHT GETAWAY GUIDE TO STAYING IN A TREEHOUSE

When I was younger I remember dreaming of having my own treehouse.

I remember thinking I would live there forever, and it would be the most magical place on earth. Flash forward, I don’t live in a treehouse, nor do I have one. To be honest with you, until recently I don’t remember the last time I even stepped foot into a treehouse. I’m not sure what some of your childhood dreams were, but if they have anything to do with a treehouse, you will want to continue reading this article.

Welcome to a memorable, off grid, getaway experience at ReTreet. A place where all of your treehouse dreams will come to life. Somewhere that is so far into the woods whatever problems you may have, stay in your car as you leave to explore your new glamping adventure. Located 3.5 hours away from Niagara Falls, ON and 2.5 hours from Toronto, is where you will find this one of a kind, bucket-list adventure.

Staying at ReTreet, you can completely unwind and disconnect from the world. It’s a place where you are constantly surrounded by nature, waking up to peaceful views you could only dream of.

Since this is not your average getaway, there are a few things you will want to do/know in advance to fully prepare for your stay.

  1. There is absolutely no electricity. If you’re bringing your devices it would be a great idea to bring a charging box for your stay considering the amount of photo opportunities.

  2. Bring fire wood to create an outdoor fire. Firewood is provided for your indoor wood stove, but if it’s a beautiful night out, you’ll want to have the option of enjoying your time around the outside fire pit.

  3. Bring lots of water. There is no running water so you will want to bring as much as you will need for your stay.

  4. There are personal outhouses at each cabin/treehouse, be sure to bring toilet paper!

  5. They have an on site personal BBQ you can use to cook meals.

  6. Bring your own linens. Due to COVID-19 ReTreet is doing everything they can to keep their guests safe. During these times they are asking each guest to bring their own linen. This includes a fitted bed sheet, an additional sheet, pillows + pillow cases, and blankets.

  7. To make sure you are fully packed for your upcoming stay make sure to visit my
GLAMPING PACKING LIST article for additional items you don’t want to forget about!

  8. Don’t bring a suitcase. Especially if you’re staying in the treehouse. If you camp/glamp a lot you probably already know this, but considering this was my first time, I made this mistake. An alternative for a suitcase are backpacks, carry on bags, and large garbage bags do a perfect job for carrying your linen in.

  9. Depending on the weather, the path to get to your accommodations may be muddy. If you don’t want to ruin your shoes, bring rain boots just in case.

BOOKING YOUR STAY:

The best way to book your stay at ReTreet is through Airbnb. Currently, you have two options: The A-Frame Cabin, or The Treehouse.

I have attached both booking links below for you:

The Treehouse BOOKING LINK:
The tree-house is around a 5 minute walk from where you park your car. It seems a lot longer the first time you get there because you will be carrying all your luggage. To access the treehouse it requires stairs to get up the treehouse, and stairs to get into the bed.

The A-Frame Cabin BOOKING LINK:
The A-Frame Cabin is around a 2 minute walk and is the perfect option if you are looking for a more accessible option.

WHY WE CHOSE THE TREEHOUSE:

We decided to stay in the treehouse compared to the A-Frame because I wanted to personally fulfill my childhood dream. I have never had the opportunity to stay in a treehouse before, and it made our trip an unforgettable one.

ACTIVITES:

  • Hiking path

  • Sauna

  • Corn hole

  • Archery

  • Zip lining. Attached to the tree-house you can enjoy a fun zip lining experience.
Please note this is only available to guests staying in the tree house.

During our stay we decided we wanted to do nothing but read, and relax. This made the sauna the perfect activity for us. Next time we go I would love to go in the warmer weather so I can experience all the fun activities ReTreet has to offer. Especially the zip lining.

FOOD:

Take the stress out of your meals by pre-planning and prepping before you arrive.

A good thing to know is that there is a metal kettle accessible for you to use. The water can take a bit of time to boil on the hot stove, but you’re on vacation so who cares.

There is also a small cooler available for you. Since you will want to bring ice to keep all of your cold products cold, this is great to have available.
