WHERE TO GO FOR A ROMANTIC STAYCATION IN NIAGARA FALLS
If you’re looking for a weekend full of pampering and relaxing, keep reading…
Overwhelmed, and stressed with the combination of holiday planning, preparing and just overall everyday life, this Niagara Staycation couldn’t have arrived at a better time. John and I have talked about it lately and it feels like everyone is competing in the “Busy-ness Olympics.”
Anytime we talk to people, it seems like we are all complaining about the laundry list of things we are doing each and every day.
Recently we have found the only way to get out of this pattern is to book time off. Book time away. Book time to relax and unwind and focus on our physical and mental health as well as our relationship. A weekend getaway at Sterling Inn, was a much needed one, and it started at their Spa.
the Spa:
The spa was incredible.
From the moment we walked in, to the moment we walked out, the peaceful ambiance put our minds at ease, and our thoughts far away from work and our ever-chiming cell phones.
Have you ever had a body wrap?
Us either.
We asked which wrap they recommended. They said we absolutely had to try the wine and honey wrap. Because who doesn’t like wine and the sweet smell of honey? This spa treatment features of course wine and honey. These ingredients are used in combination with others to cleanse, moisturize and restore the skin. This treatment in particular boasts an arsenal of potent age-fighters including polyphenols, resveratrol and natural vitamins.
After the skin is prepared, you feel a warm glow coming from your skin. Doused in wine, and honey you are then wrapped tightly like a burrito to allow these powerful ingredients to do their job. Not only is it amazing at replenishing the skin, you are warm and cozy and put in a totally zen-like state. Great for the mind as well as the body.
But if wine and honey aren’t your thing, they also offer seaweed wraps, mud wraps, chocolate covered strawberry wraps (this sounds like an absolute MUST the next time we go,) or the seasonal wrap.
Of course the Sterling Spa isn’t just about wraps. They have a variety of massages including: couples massages, deep tissue, hot stone massages and more. Or, you can have a full-body scrub. Of course they offer multiple different options for facials and they even have foot treatments!
Make sure to grab a glass or two of ice cold citrus water on your way in and out to stay hydrated!
Dining
As a food, hotel and restaurant blogger I still can’t believe I had never been to the restaurant, AG Inspired Cuisine. This incredible fine dining restaurant is located inside the Sterling Inn. The vibe was high class. The decor was elegant. And the service was top notch.
This restaurant provides the full farm-to-table experience. Much of the food is planted, produced and picked by AG Cuisine at their local farm. The executive Chef Cory Linkson ensures all meals are of the highest quality fit for a fine dining experience. They have a three-course menu for $99 per person, and it was fantastic. We had the pleasure of beginning our meal with the Autumn Harvest Winter Squash Bisque. It featured red curry, coconut and cilantro crema. Not only was the soup delicious, the presentation was magnificent. We have never talked about how much we loved soup so much in our lives. We can say with certainty this was the best soup either of us have ever had. GET THE SOUP!
For our Mains, we both enjoyed a delicious cut of meat. I had the Flank Steak and John the Signature Tenderloin. All I can say is that is exactly how you would expect a fine dining steak to taste. Both were cooked and seasoned to perfection.
Finally, for dessert we had “Andrew’s” hand made Gelato. We shared the Apple Pie and Chocolate brownie Gelatos. Both wonderful choices.
We would recommend this restaurant to anyone celebrating a special occasion like an anniversary or birthday with your loved one. It was very romantic and private. A must if you are looking for somewhere new!
Breakfast in Bed
After our spa treatments and fine dining experience, a nice long sleep was next on the menu. Luckily when we got up in the morning, we didn’t have to go very far to enjoy an intimate breakfast. It’s hard to beat when it is delivered right to your door. Breakfast in bed truly is the perfect way to start your day!
We like coffee. Love coffee, more like. So we suggest as soon as you get that amazing tray of food and beverages, pour the hot water into the French-Press because it’s amazing how long 5 minutes feels when you’re waiting for your morning cup. Luckily, you have an entire platter of food to begin with and you can rehydrate with a nice glass of orange juice.Eggs, croissants, an assortment of fruit and yogurt were on the menu that morning. More than enough for both of us to enjoy.
Then finally we were able to pour our French-Press coffee, put our tray off to the side of the bed, and talk about the rest of our day in bed. It really is tough to beat.
Our stay at the Sterling Inn was a special one.
Like I said, we are all busy.
So make sure to take some time to be with your significant other, and remember WHY you are putting in all of this hard work.
And when you take some time, we recommend the Sterling Inn.
