What does your ideal summer night look like?
Is it going to the beach and hanging out with your friends? A date night featuring a cute picnic in the park? Or, is it having a BBQ and drinks in your backyard with the ones you love most?
Any of these options to spend a summer night can be improved by one thing.
Adding a mouthwatering charcuterie board.
Recently, charcuterie has become trendy and blowing up in popularity. Tons of restaurants are getting on board and adding this to their menu.
With having so many options of restaurants providing charcuterie, why not go to the one restaurant that specializes in it?
It’s one of their only menu items, it’s what their company is known for, and you can bring it to any occasion and impress your friends and loved ones with your creative choice.
If you haven’t already been, it’s time to go to Chz Plz.
Chz Plz is a takeout restaurant located in St.Catharines. They are known for their mouth-watering charcuterie boards while always providing local, and fresh products. They offer different size boards and boxes, which accommodates hosting any size of event. They can offer custom made boards, as well as vegan friendly options, and works with allergies very well (I have a peanut and nut allergy so I can attest to this).
You order your board or box online from their website https://chzplz.ca and must order at least 24 hours in advance from when you want to pick up your charcuterie.
Want to stay in? If you don’t feel like picking up your food, every Friday they provide a delivery service.
Now, I’m going to tell you what my ideal summer night looks like, and how it went.
I’m not too sure about you, but lately I’ve seen so many cute picnic pictures on Instagram, it has made me want to go buy a bunch of trendy picnic supplies, and go on a picnic date with my man.
So that’s what I planned.
A couple Tuesdays ago around 6:30pm, my boyfriend and I picked up a large box from Chz Plz. A large box feeds four people as an appetizer, but my eyes are always bigger than my stomach so we upgraded to a large box instead of the small.
We ordered our box 24 hours in advance and included the Picnic Experience. I wanted to include the Picnic Experience because I didn’t want to go purchase a bunch of picnic supplies that realistically I would probably only use once this summer.
The Picnic Experience included our box, the picnic basket rental (also including two glasses, plates, cutlery and blanket), chips and salsa, two sparkling waters, and a salami sandwich for two. We quickly learned we did not need to upgrade to the large box with adding the picnic experience.
When we got to Chz Plz, John (my boyfriend) and I both knew we were going on a picnic, but didn’t know where. Thanks to one of the Chz Plz staff members, she recommended a bunch of different local places we could go to enjoy our picnic.
We chose Rennie Park, which was a short walk away (you could also drive over because they provide parking). We walked down the path and set up our picnic up on the hill facing the Martindale Pond. This is where we opened up a bottle of wine (don’t forget a corkscrew!) enjoyed the weather, each others company, and this delicious charcuterie board.
Something that benefited us a lot was that Chz Plz provided us with a pairing sheet. This helped us know what cheeses to pair with what meats and spreads to help enjoy the board as much as possible (if this is something you would want with your board, request a pairing sheet when you place your order).

Also, because of the pairing sheet, we learned to eat a grape in between each cheese to refresh your palette. (I love learning fun things!)
Our picnic in the park, was exactly what I envisioned my ideal summer night to be like. Now that I’ve enjoyed my ideal summer night, I am already planning the next event where I can bring a board from Chz Plz along.
