Our Grade A Experience at Hambrgr
In my opinion, it’s rare to find a restaurant that serves good appetizers, burgers, AND desserts.
After visiting HAMBRGR St.Catharines, I finally found THAT restaurant.
My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of visiting HAMBRGR. I haven’t been there in forever, and it was John’s first time. This surprised me immensely because out of everyone I know, no one loves a good burger more than John.
HAMBRGR recommends making a reservation before your visit so thats what we did.

Our visit was on a Thursday night at 7 pm which seemed like the perfect time to go. We dined inside and noticed that HAMBRGR did a great job following COVID protocols and guidelines by ensuring all tables were 6ft apart and having all servers wear masks, as well as wiping down tables and other surfaces before seating guests.
When we got settled in, I knew I had to have a milkshake for my drink. Then after realization kicked in that we were planning on ordering a full meal, I made the smart decision of starting with a cocktail for a drink and then ending with a milkshake (this way I wouldn’t be too full to enjoy our dinner).
I’ve never enjoyed mojitos until recently (after trying my first mojito at Lost and Found and loving it), but after I saw the Blackberry and Orange Mojito on the menu I knew that is exactly what I wanted.
For our appetizers, we were torn between ordering the Stuffed Jalapeño Poppers and the Fried Pickles. Considering we both love Fried Pickles, and haven’t had them recently, we decided to try them out. They were delicious. The Fried Pickles are served with a Greek Yogurt and Dill Dip, but the Buttermilk Ranch Dip was what I enjoyed the most.
Have you ever heard of a Chef Smash?
Well, it was my first time ever hearing about that during my visit.
At HAMBRGR they create a Chef Smash burger option for their guests, in case they want to try something different from the regular menu. The Chef Smash is a unique burger that is only available for a limited time. Usually, it lasts for a couple of weeks, and then gets switched out for another new, yummy creation.
During our visit, the Chef Smash feature was the “Brgr and the Giant Peach”. Long story short, this burger was created with bacon, arugula, brie, habanero cherry compote, and PEACHES. Peaches for this Chef Smash were locally grown by the good people at Bartkiw Farms!
I’m not sure about you, but I have never even heard of a burger ever having peaches on it?!
When our server Sarah, informed us about this option John knew this was the burger he needed to try.
As for me… I admired John’s decision, but it was way too adventurous for me.
As soon as I looked at the menu I had my eyes on a total of three different burgers. These burgers were:
praise cheesus burger with the gar parm
Ring of Fire
Le Royale with Cheese
and the Praise Cheesus

Sarah made my life a lot easier by highly recommending the Praise Cheesus burger, and it was incredible. (thanks Sarah! )
During our visit, we also learned that all burgers are cooked medium-well. If you’d like to have your burgers well done, you can let your server know and the chef can accommodate that.
As for sides, something good to know is at HAMBRGR no sides come with the burgers. That didn’t matter in this situation, because as soon as I saw the Gar Parm fries on the menu, my heart was set on trying them.
If you have never ordered them yourself, I would completely recommend trying them on your next visit because I am still drooling from how good they were.
John ordered the sweet potato fries, (which is always a good option) and his exact words after eating them were “These are the best sweet potato fries I’ve ever had”.
Now, that's a bold statement.
the Cookie Monster and the 8th deadly sin milkshakes
For dessert, we ordered the 8th Deadly Sin Milkshake (that's the one with the brownie on top), and we also ordered the Cookie Monster.
I enjoyed both of these, but because of the cookies and cream ice cream, and the choco chunk ice cream sandwich on top of the milkshake, the Cookie Monster Milkshake was my absolute favourite.
Overall, from start-finish HAMBRGR exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed everything we ordered, and as we were leaving, I was already planning my next time to return.
