The Only Person I Trust with Hair Extensions
Extensions can be a girls best friend.
For myself, they’ve been in my life since the high school days. There are a ton of different types of extensions, methods and stylists out there. Some people have had incredible experiences, other people have had horror stories. To be honest, I have had my fair share of both.
Similar to my other articles, I want to save you time, and money by cutting to the chase and sharing the best place I have gone to for extensions, and where I still continue to go.
I also want to share some of my experiences I’ve had with a few different methods of extensions. Starting with tapes, switching to fusions and now having the newest method, weft extensions.
Have you had extensions before? Let me know your favourite in the comments below!
My extension experience:
TAPES:
I had tape extensions for one year, and overall this is my least favourite type of extension. Even though I have thick hair, these extensions are super bulky and hard to hide. Personally, I would have to go every 4-6 weeks to get them removed and installed again, and this was such an expensive and lengthy process that I dreaded every appointment.
FUSIONS:
FUSION EXTENSIONS
For my entire life I have only heard negative opinions about fusion extensions. I have heard horror stories about girls getting bald spots because the stylist had no idea what they were doing, and ended up damaging the clients entire head of hair. After hearing this story, I was convinced I was never going to get fusion extensions.
Then I met Lex.
Alexis Gaddishaw is the owner of Gaddi Beauty in St.Catharines, Ontario.
In my life, I have gone to almost ten different stylists for extensions, and I have never had better results then I have had with Lex. She is upfront, honest, takes pride in her incredible work and is one of the hardest working business babes I know. When I first went to Lex we talked about the pros and cons of fusion extensions for myself. I told her I was looking for extensions that would look healthy, thick, easy to hid and had low maintenance.
Right away, she knew fusions would be the best method to go with.
After putting all my trust in her, that’s when the magic happened.
Lex literally TRANSFORMED my hair.
Fusions are individual bonds installed throughout the entire head, which makes it super easy to hide and easy to style. This will be different for everyone, but I was able to go five months without any maintenance. This is when I needed to get my extensions removed, and get them refreshed with a new set. During my first removal session of the fusion extensions, I was nervous. I kept thinking of all the horror stories I heard about fusion extensions and I was convinced I was going to leave the salon with no hair.
Lex made this process as smooth as possible, and when she finished we were both incredibly happy with the minimal amount of damage to my hair. As you are reading this, please note that I am not recommending fusion extensions in general. I am ONLY recommending fusion extensions with Lex as your stylist. I have never tried fusion extensions anywhere else or with anyone else, so this could be a completely different experience if you decide to go elsewhere.
Long story short, if you want your extensions done to perfection go to Gaddi Beauty.
SEW IN WEFT METHOD:
WEFT EXTENSIONS
Even though I loved my fusion extensions and would get them done again in a heartbeat (only by Lex) when she told me she was learning the Sew In Weft Method which consists of zero heat, or glue I was intrigued. My extensions currently are these wefts (pictured) and I’m really enjoying them. I’ve now had these extensions for a few months and my real hair has never been healthier. Knowing that I am able to have a full head of extensions with having zero damage to my real hair is really the best of both worlds. Move up appointments for weft extensions take around 30 minutes, and I am able to go 6-8 weeks before I need it done.
Overall, my two favourite extension methods are the sew in method, and fusions. These two methods are so different, but after a consultation with Lex she will be able to recommend the one she thinks is best to help accomplish your ultimate hair goals.
To book a free consultation with Lex you can follow her business on Instagram @gaddibeauty and send her a DM!
If you have any hair questions please feel free to shoot either of us a message @bycourtneytodd and @gaddibeauty .
After years of stress, tears, and bad experiences with extensions, I have finally found my hair extension goddess, and finally get to walk in to every appointment with confidence.
Hope this helps!
