YOUR GLAMPING GETAWAY GUIDE TO GLEN ORO
If you’re looking for your next socially distanced getaway adventure, look no further.
It’s time to pack up your suitcase and head on over to Glen Oro Farm for an unforgettable glamping experience. Glen Oro Farm is approximately a two hour drive from Niagara, and an hour and a half drive from Toronto.
Similar to most things these days, I was introduced to Glen Oro Farm via Instagram. My first time stumbling onto their page I was left speechless at their iconic and unique geodesic domes, also known as their Star Gazer Domes. Being instantly intrigued and wanting to learn more, I then stumbled onto their Explorers Tent option. I was so amazed by both accommodation options, that when I went to book I knew I had to experience both.
In both the Explorers Tent and Star Gazer Dome, there are en-suite bathrooms supplied with safe drinking water, and a stylish cedar shower.
No matter if you plan on cooking your own meals during your stay, or experiencing some nearby local restaurants you have all the basic cooking essentials you need located in your kitchenette.
Here’s what's included:
French press + fresh coffee beans
Kettle
Dish ware (mugs, glassware plates, bowls, cutlery)
Propane BBQ located right outside your dome or tent
Toaster oven (this came in handy to heat up our delicious leftovers from The Ktchn)
Tinfoil
Matches
Cutting board
Compost bin, recycling bin and garbage bin
NEARBY LOCAL RESTAURANTS:
During our two night stay, we took a complete break from cooking and decided to enjoy our meals from a couple local restaurants.
BREAKFAST:
Both of our mornings at Glen Oro we enjoyed breakfast from The Common Good Cafe. This cafe is approximately a 20 minute drive from Glen Oro, so if you plan on visiting you always have the option to make one trip out of it, and just use the toaster oven to reheat your breakfast the following morning, or, you can make a visit to the cafe on your way to Glen Oro so you don’t have to leave after you arrive. Hopefully restaurants and cafes will be open soon (closed due to COVID-19) so if that's the case you can actually visit this cute cafe and enjoy your breakfast there.
Our favourite menu items from the Common Good Cafe were (photos of these menu items are attached at bottom of this article)
- The Best Sandwich: Bacon, Egg, Spinach, Tomato and Cheddar On A Croissant with a Smokey Aioli
- Jalapeño & Bacon Bagel Sammy
- Pain au chocolate pastries
- and the potato wedges
LUNCH AND DINNER:
For our lunch and dinners, we decided to check out another local restaurant called The Ktchn. This restaurant looks beyond dreamy, and even though we made reservations to go visit during our stay, of course COVID-19 ruined that. So, we decided to do the second best option we could, which was ordering take out from there.
My absolute favourite menu item was the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich and Caesar Salad. I’ve had many chicken sandwiches before, but this one was one of my absolute favourites.
Johns favourite meal was the Steak Frites. This is made up with an 8oz strip loin paired with truffle parm fries and peppercorn sauce.
Next time I visit (since I need to actually dine in and experience this beautiful restaurant) I will be trying their Chicken and Waffles meal as it looks absolutely delicious.

ACTIVITIES TO ENJOY:
Hiking: If it's a nice day, spend it exploring up to 200 acres of land at Glen Oro.
Create a campfire: Put on your comfiest clothes (my absolute favourite lounge set is from Apres Actif and if you want a discount on your next order use my code TODD20 at checkout) , open your favourite bottle of wine and make some s’mores
Order in takeout: Support some amazing local businesses on your trip and don’t worry about cooking! With amazing nearby local restaurants (I recommend the KTCHN and Common Good Cafe) and a variety of menu items, you can’t go wrong.
Horseback riding: If you enjoy horseback riding, make your stay that much more memorable by adding this experience onto your getaway. Prices are from $89.99 per person during the week, and $109.99 per person on weekends.
OVERALL OPINION:
We had two unforgettable and enjoyable nights at Glen Oro Farm. After being able to experience both the Explorers Tent and Stargazer Dome, my favourite ended up being the Stargazer Dome. The Explorers Tent is incredible and very spacious, but at the end of the day falling asleep to a sky full of stars is just way too magical to take second place.
