Your Summer Getaway Guide to Port Dalhousie

It’s officially summer time, and unfortunately international travel is still out of reach.

Instead of not travelling at all this summer, it’s time we continue experiencing enjoyable Canadian adventures.

Located in Ontario, Port Dalhousie is a small town approximately 20 minutes from Niagara Falls, and one hour from Toronto. If you want to make this the best staycation yet, keep reading because everything you need to know is included in this article.

Let’s start with one of the most important things to make any getaway great. Good food.

BREAKFAST:

Do you enjoy more of a sweet or savoury breakfast? No matter what your answer is, Rozie’s Cafe will have your breakfast cravings satisfied. I have visited Rozie’s on two separate occasions now and both times have been incredible. So far my absolute favourites are the Eggs Benedict and Home Fries. Just thinking about that meal is making my mouth water….
If you’ve already ate breakfast, stop by for dessert instead! Rozie’s Scoops is now open with a variety of desserts to enjoy. After we enjoyed our breakfast, I ended our visit by getting the two scoop chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream cone. As you can see from the photo attached at the bottom, it was delicious.
(A good thing to know before your visit is that Rozie’s is currently closed on Sunday’s.)

COFFEE:

During our stay in Port Dalhousie, 416 Coffee was the perfect grab and go coffee spot. They have recently opened up a fried donut cart on the weekends, where you can also order and enjoy fresh, fried cake donuts.

CHARCUTERIE:

If you are looking for a grab and go charcuterie place you need to visit Chz Plz. This is my all time favourite charcuterie company in Niagara, and with many different sizes of boards and boxes to chose from you will find exactly what you are looking for.
To place an order you can visit their website at www.chzplzniagara.ca .

DINNER:

If you’re in the mood to go for an incredible Italian dinner and drinks, make a reservation at The Twisted Pig. The Twisted Pig offers indoor dining as well as two patios (with one of them being on the rooftop). If you have brought your furry friend along on your Port Dalhousie Getaway, they can also come and enjoy the lower patio.

Food recommendations:
TWISTED GNOCCHI 2.0 and if you like spicy try the DIAVOLO pizza.
(All of their pizza is wood fired and delicious, so you can’t really make a wrong decision).

ACCOMODATIONS:

If you plan on making an overnight trip to Port Dalhousie do yourself a favour and stay at The Juniper Inn.

The Juniper is a dog friendly boutique hotel with 6 different and unique themed rooms. There is free parking on-site and has a seamless digital self check in process.

When we stayed at the Juniper, we stayed for two nights in the C ROOM. We brought our sweet fur baby Louis, and had the perfect staycation.  The C Room translates to the Cactus Room, which means the entire suite is white, green and cactus themed. This room is super cute and with it being the only suite at The Juniper, it is very spacious. The attention to detail in all of the rooms are absolutely incredible.

The five other room choices you can chose from are:

  • Flamingo Room

  • Murphy’s Room

  • Zebra Room

  • Palms Room

  • Rock Room

No matter what room you choose I can almost guarantee that you will have a great sleep. I am  confident in saying this because at the end of our stay I came straight home and did some online shopping for the exact duvet and bedding set the Juniper has. Now, all my sleeps are as fantastic as they were at the Juniper.

ACTIVITY IDEAS:

  1. Grab your morning coffee at 416 and start your day with a walk along the water at Reenie Park.

  2. Pack up your beach bags and enjoy a day at Lakeside Park Beach (walking distance away from Juniper Inn).

  3. Create the picnic of your dreams with Sip’n’Soirée

Sip’n'Soirée creates luxury pop up picnics at the location of your choice and cleans it up when the party is over. These picnics are perfect for date nights, bachelorettes, engagements, birthday parties, brunches, & any intimate, relaxing moments to celebrate with loved ones. For our experience we did a girls night on the beach, ordered charcuterie from Chz Plz and brought wine from Lakeview Winery. The entire experience was beyond amazing.

Sip’n'Soirée accommodates up to 8 people per picnic and suggest booking a month in advance. If that much notice isn’t possible on your end, they are always accommodating last minute picnics so it never hurts to ask. To get more information or to book your next luxury picnic you can send them a message via Instagram to @sipnsoiree.

I hope this article helps bring some fun ideas on how to make your next Getaway to Port Dalhousie the best it can be. As always I LOVE seeing your pictures and hearing about your experience so if you try out any of these recommendations tag me in your posts @bycourtneytodd

Happy Summer,

Courtney
